Independent artists and their distinctive talents aren’t celebrated enough these days.
But organizations and businesses across Madison area are trying to change that.
Carnelian Art Gallery owner and painter, Evan Bradbury, has a collection of pieces that adorn the walls of The Urbane, a new apartment complex located at 2725 Marshall Court in the Village of Shorewood Hills. The complex is owned by Sycamore Investors.
Its managing partner, Tim Carey, offered some positive sentiments about what it was like to work with an independent artist to decorate the apartment complex.
“We are delighted to have Evan’s work featured in our newest apartment community,” Carey said. “The presence of Evan’s paintings throughout our common areas put the finishing touch on the Scandinavian contemporary vibe that we strived to achieve through the interior design process.
“The paintings bring an element of quality, creativity and intrigue that I believe our tenants appreciate and enjoy, and simply can’t be achieved through stock commercialized pieces.”
The Urbane’s main color scheme is blue, and Bradbury’s pieces match that theme. Three pieces that hang in The Urbane’s entryway offer textured white and blue designs, while another in a community room depicts a dotted motif with light and deep blues and greens. One more piece that adorns one of the apartment complex’s residential floors is an abstract study using several hues of blue.
“Utilizing a local artist with personal ties to his apartment community was a fun and collaborative process that I will replicate on future projects,” Carey said.
